Bridgeman Education is the online educational resource of the Bridgeman Art Library, offering subscribers unlimited access to an archive of over two million images of art, history and culture, all copyright cleared for educational use.
Bridgeman Education offers users unlimited access to over two million high quality digital images, all copyright cleared for educational use by institutions, teachers, lecturers, librarians and students.
Images are sourced directly from leading museums, galleries, artists, photographers and private collections around the world. Bridgeman Art Library represents over 2,000 collections and more than 29,000 artists.
The comprehensive and varied range of imagery spans every historical period, movement and medium, providing valuable visual teaching and learning material on a wide range of subjects, including:
Content ranges from prehistory to present day and includes work by contemporary artists as well as over 60,000 modern works from the 20th and 21st centuries.
Media represented include images of paintings, sculpture, frescoes, mosaics, architecture, archaeology, objects, posters, clothing, furniture, ceramics, engravings, lithographs, prints, manuscripts, maps, landscapes and topography.
Bridgeman Education has developed an app for iPhone which can be used by all trial users and subscribers. View images and their metadata, create slideshows and save under a unique username for later retrieval from any computer. Log in with your account username and password to begin searching.
The Bridgeman Education content has been, and will continue to be, selected to cover all aspects of social and cultural history and contemporary society with a particular emphasis on the arts.

Bridgeman Education is regularly updated with new content, at no extra cost to users.
The publisher does not currently meet the Jisc accessibility standards, however is working towards meeting the W3C standards.

Bridgeman Education conforms broadly to Dublin Core and VRA Core. It is in the process of developing its own controlled vocabularies based on Getty and Theasuri, but better adapted for educational image research.
For example, it uses the Getty ULAN standard, TGN and has adapted the AAT (Getty's Art and Architecture Thesaurus)
Bridgeman Education supports OpenURL and are currently engaged in a project to put this in place.
Images are IPTC metadata compliant.

Bridgeman Education will soon offer COUNTER compliant usage statistics. At the moment, usage statistics will be supplied upon request. These include the date of log-in and amount of use as well as all keywords searched for and the number of page-views.
