Microbiology Society Journals Portfolio ‘Publish & Read’ 1 year Agreement 2021

  • Start: 1 Jan 2021
    Expiry: 31 Dec 2021
  • Description:

An unlimited "Publish & Read" transitional agreement covering the full Microbiology Society portfolio of four hybrid and two full OA journals.

Product overview

Designed to provide maximum incentive for microbiology researchers working within the UK HE sector to publish their work in the Society's not-for-profit journals, an "all you can eat" (AYCE) Publish & Read model pre-funds OA with no bar on numbers of articles submitted nor published within the agreement period. This model not only advantages researchers and their institutions, it also helps us to fulfill our charitable mission.

The Microbiology Society's Publish & Read is an all-inclusive package. Participating institutions will receive unlimited access to all paywalled content, plus unlimited, immediate OA publishing under CC-BY licence terms of the "Version of Record" for all accepted manuscripts, where the corresponding author is at a participating institution.

Administratively light for authors and institutions, the Publisher will notify authors from participating institutions of the scheme through the manuscript peer review process. Pre-submission, potential authors will be guided to check whether their institution is covered for OA. Payment for institutional access to content can be reflowed to (and subsidised by) active OA publishing in the journals. Participating institutions are encouraged to actively communicate and explain to their researchers the arrangement in place, so that maximum financial benefit is derived for the institution.

The Microbiology Society online journals contain high-quality research papers and topical review articles. Each journal has an editorial board that draws on the expertise of specialists worldwide. From our founding and flagship journal Microbiology, published continuously from 1947, to the latest full OA journal Access Microbiology, research ethics and data management policies govern review and acceptance criteria, nomenclature guidelines are given, and semantic enrichment built into articles as a contribution to our discipline.
